This six-week course will provide students with a more in-depth understanding of core Buddhist teachings and meditation practices essential in the journey of awakening as taught within the Insight meditation tradition. These five mindfulness trainings are really the foundation for experiencing lasting happiness in our lives, as the phrase the Bliss of Blamelessness suggests.
During these six weeks, we will explore the Five Precepts taught by the Buddha as practical guidelines for our actions in body, speech, and mind. The precepts are training principles that over the many centuries have been proven to bring more happiness and peace.
The course will be taught as a mix of study and practice, so that students will gain an overview of the Buddha's teachings, while developing experience with Buddhist practices and meditation. The material will be taught with a practical emphasis on how we apply and live these teachings in our everyday lives. The teaching will also emphasize the importance of cultivating an embodied awareness moment to moment.
There are 6 weekly classes on Tuesday evenings from 7:15pm - 9:15pm beginning November 13th to December 18th.
