Living Dharma- Going for Refuge in the Three Jewels

Class will be held online, on zoom.

In the Living Dharma class series, we study the traditional Buddhist teachings from the Insight meditation tradition and learn how to apply them to daily life for greater ease, clarity, and well being.

For many of us, we long to discover a refuge from the challenges in daily life and the suffering we see playing out in our communities and on a global scale. In this particular class series, we’ll be learning to cultivate the capacity to find true, deep refuge in what is known as the 3 jewels in Buddhism. Refuge in the Buddha, or the possibility of embodying a more wakeful, compassionate presence, refuge in the Dharma, the teachings of the Buddha and the truth of things as they are, and refuge in the sangha, deep community with others who are also practicing mindfulness and compassion. There will be time for longer meditations, instruction, Dharma talks, small group work, reflections and discussion to deepen learning together in community.

Participants will be strongly encouraged to meditate for at least 30 minutes daily to support the deepening of their understanding.

This is a class series, not a drop-in group. Please sign up with the intention of attending as many sessions as possible to get the most out of class and to leave space open for other students who would like to commit to the full session.
