There are 10 qualities of mind and character that are taught in the Buddhist tradition and are called the paramis or "perfections." As they mature within us these qualities bring peace and freedom to the mind and heart. Some of them are very simple, but powerful, like patience, or effort. In this class we will be looking at the application of these qualities to our lives as householders- at home, at work, and in our relationships. We will explore how we can live our Dharma more deeply through turning the mind and heart to the cultivation of these Paramis as our life and our meditation practice unfold together.
Qualities such as wisdom, energy, equanimity, lovingkindness, generosity and others will be explored in this class as well as their relationship to one another and how each one leads to the next. Learning how to cultivate these qualities helps to deepen your mindfulness practice on the cushion and in all areas of life. As they become more embodied and integrated within us, we learn to experience more well being and contentment in daily life and touch the wisdom of the Buddha's teachings more directly here and now, freeing the mind and heart.
